No Stranger to Controversy
Time present and time past fall into line
Time future comes to haunt what is gone
For all .. eternity
No stranger to this controversy now
Passes through the eye of the needle
That things .. are not always what they seem
Sometimes you’ve got to be poisoned
To realise the beauty of the cure
Sometimes you’ve got to be endangered
To realise that species fight back
And sometimes, sometimes, sometimes, sometimes, sometimes ..
But lo and behold the journey is not done
A man stands accused by the serpents tongue
The sowing witches are sowing .. out their lies
One thousand favours will not be recalled
For favours go forgotten over time
The whims of the whimsical, are so sublime
Sometimes you have to be wounded
To realise that wounds can heal
Sometimes you have to be controlled
To realise how bullies work
And sometimes, sometimes, sometimes, sometimes, sometimes ..

All the worlds strangers

All the worlds strangers
All the worlds strangers
Come down to the store
Where discussions turn
To still wanting more
And talk of times in isolation
Not to mention this separation
When no-one cared, and no-one stared
and no-one shared, a single kind word.
This life is born from minds that lead
All of us back from whence we came
And songs of love in times of hate
Will features in everything we do.
Tell me where
Where's the soul in that.
All the worlds strangers
Come down from the hills
Take in the scenery
In a landscape of stones
Where pebbles turn on a tidal plain
Hangs in the balance of too little time.
All the maggots must clean the wounds
All the wounds have yet to close
All the closure has yet to be found
All the findings have yet to be shared
And no-one shares a single word.
All the worlds strangers
Come down to the lake
Eat in the restaurant for goodness sake
Talk of times in isolation
Not to mention this separation.

Smells of London

The Smells of London
I keep hearing all those voices as they speak in many tongues
The sounds of a city turning round
I try to find the voice that will speak those words again
See if they will come, come what may
The smell of poverty and greed
The smell of alcohol and need
The smell of happiness and joy
The smell of what will be destroyed
The smell of smoke from a gun
The smell of people on the run
The smell of fumes from a bus
The smell of them, the smell of us
The smell of love, the smell of fear
The smell of one more lonely year
The smell of cooking and of trains
The smell of gas from the drains
The smell of milk that’s been spilt
The smell of last nights sick
The smell of workers who fear the worst
Has the bubble finally burst?
The smell of anger and of hate
The smell of an important date
The smell of people and birds
The smell of smell of raining cats and dogs
The smell of food and of soap
From all around the world
These are the smells of London
London after the rain
A further tightening of the belt
A further tying of the laces
And pulling up of socks
These things have come to test us
A further swallowing of pride
A further buttoning of the shirt
Don’t loosen up that tie yet
These things have come to test us
These are the smells of London
London after the rain

Hurricane Desmond
Oh the rain is falling (pause)
Oh the waters pouring
On blue remembered hills
And oh the rivers forming
In gutters at our feet
And oh the damp is aching
In my heart again I know
I came across a failure
Just something that I’ve known
And all the time I’m listening
To The Tickets on repeat
The best of all solutions it would seem ..
To oh oh oh oh oh oh Run away!
And oh oh oh oh oh oh Hide away!
And oh oh oh oh oh oh Everything you’ve known
Will never be like it
And oh oh oh oh oh oh How d’you say?
And oh oh oh oh oh oh Get away!
And oh oh oh oh oh oh What you’ve known
In its entirety
To breaking down the barriers
To shouting out a tune
Rudies always on his own
And oh my heart is aching
On my mind again I know
I come across a calling
Just something that I’ve known
And all the time I listen
To The Tickets on repeat
The best of all solutions is today.

Fighting Men

Fighting Men
See them fall away from you
See them fall away from everything
A line was crossed on that night
A line was crossed that could not be reversed.
As one makes a move another doubles back
And turns defence into attack
With all the force he can muster at that time.
So let them kick and let them brawl
One will rise and one will fall
Broken ribs and noses will prevail.
Draw the line in the sand
Draw the line in the sand again now
And so so say all of us
So say all of us say all of us.
As one makes a move another doubles back
And turns defence into attack
With all the force he can muster at that time.
So let them kick and let them brawl
One will rise and one will fall
Broken ribs and noses will prevail.

Silent Spring

Silent Spring
No birds were sitting on my window
No birds tap tapping on the glass
No birds singing when the sun is coming up
So comes the silent spring
No birds flocking round the trees
No birds whistling in the breeze
No birds taking straw to build a nest
So comes the silent spring
The chaffinch and the goshawk
The herring gull and jay
The thrush and the reed bunting
The serin and the dove
The waxwing and the wagtail
The robin and the tit
The blackcap and the gold crest
The corncrake and the rook
The tree creeper and nuthatch
The lesser black backed gull
The common gull and dunnock
The raven at the door
The goldfinch and the stonechat
The kingfisher and coot
The lapwing and the curlew
The sparrow and the wren
Powers of observation catch me looking at the thief
And the judgement and the emptiness of this or that belief
When its values that that we trade in then who am i to say
That this right wrong is a right wrong today
They are singing hymns and verses because some VIP has died
They are singing of the truth because the legacv has come
On the TV and the radio the story is the same
That this right wrong is a right wrong today

The end of all things

The end of all things
So I believe the falling of the light
Reveals the final calling is in sight
It comes to haunt me, it comes to haunt me, it comes to haunt me
-
But in a way the reckoning it is done
As hearts are lost as others they are won
The end of all things, the end of all things, the end of all things
-
The end of resources
The end of excuses
The end of reproduction
The end of pollination
The end of oceans
The end of species
The end of evolution
The end of revolution
The end of beginnings
The end of the end, of the end..
